My brother and I are heading to Tortola in the British Virgin Islands from August 8th to 11th for a long weekend to celebrate my upcoming wedding (a bachelor party DXpedition, how about that!). Our goal with this DXpedition is to fill in the gaps on the bands and modes that haven’t seen a lot of activity from the BVI in the past decade. As such, I will be focusing mostly on 6m, while my brother will be focusing on the WARC bands (30m, 17m, 12m), although you may hear either of us on any band. We will also have capabilities for 80m, 40m, 15m, and 10m and will try to do at least a few satellite passes throughout the weekend (those will be posted at hams.at with as much notice as possible). In terms of modes, you can find us on SSB, some CW (we are not very experienced CW ops!), and FT4/FT8/MSK144, and FM (satellites only).
We arrive Friday afternoon and hope to be on the air in the evening with HF. Saturday and Sunday we plan to be on the air as much as possible, although we reserve the right to take a break on the beach! As this trip coincides with the HamSCI Meteor Scatter QSO Party, we will be participating on Monday morning (August 11th) with one station on 6m and the other on 10m. These operations will use MSK144 solely. We will likely be QRT on all bands late Monday morning.
Andy and I will each be operating under our own call signs (VP2V/KD8RTT and VP2V/KK4LWR) and will maintain separate logs, but we will create a special, joint QSL card for the DXpedition. QSL via LOTW or direct with SASE to my home call (KD8RTT) for all contacts to either of us. We request you send your QSL card by September 13th to ensure we order enough cards.
